The accident, just 24 hours ago, was pretty horrific. The 10 minutes between when the accident happened and when the first ambulance arrived on the scene were the longest 10 minutes of my life. From thereon in, my father was in the best possible hands a person could wish for under these conditions. Upon arrival at Hadassah Hospital by ambulance – as an anonymous rider – he had a 10-person team of top, top trauma and other professionals dealing with him immediately. After about an hour or two, we were told that the condition was very serious but stable, and we were optimistic – but then, in the middle of the night, the situation turned around, and the internal bleeding was getting out of control… it was touch and go for a few hours – but somehow seems to have gotten under control again after he had the equivalent of about 4 or 5 full blood transfusions.
Now, at around noon our time, it seems that all the internal bleeding is pretty much under control, the CT of the head shows that all is good up there, he is still very much on a respirator and kept asleep… and hopefully, hopefully the “normal” challenges begin – kidney issues, lung issues, broken pelvis and legs, broken ribs, avoiding infections, etc…
The road ahead is probably still long, the condition is still considered very serious, and we need a lot more prayers of friends, and friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends.
